depending on His grace

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Acts 13:42-14:7. We hear from Paul as he encourages the new Christians he'd been teaching to "continue to rely on the grace of God."

Now what does that mean, exactly? Well, it means (among other things) that they were to trust in His grace and wisdom, even when things in their lives might not make sense. To trust that His grace would see them through difficult times. To trust His grace to be sufficient to give them strength to face the challenges to their faith, and even to their lives.

We face many such challenges today. Many of us have family members who have fallen ill, or who have recently passed away. Some of us are facing serious depression, or have friends or loved ones who are so severely depressed that they're thinking about ending their lives. One of my dearest friends tried to end her life this week. The times are dark.

But God's grace is still sufficient. He is still there, being our strength. He will continue to see us through our difficulties, and we can rely on Him and His grace to see us through. Trust in Him. He won't let you down.

God, thank You for Your grace, without which we'd be lost.
