the Book and the Lake

Today we read from Revelation 20:1-15 in the One Year Bible. All things come to an end in this reading, and hell and death are thrown into the Lake of Fire, along with the Devil and all of his demons. The Bible then clearly says that anyone whose name is not in the Book of Life will also be thrown into the Lake of Fire. That's the bad news, and it's very bad.

The good news is that our names can still be written in the Book of Life. It's not too late. If we seek Him, and ask Him to write our names in His book, He will. In order to become a saint, we must simply ask Him to make us one. Yes, it will involve following Him, and doing the things He puts before us to do. But it will be 1000 times worth it. If we're living our lives for any reason other than to become saints, we're wasting our lives. And we're not taking that Lake seriously enough.

God, please help us become saints. And please write our names in Your Book of Life.
