God comforts the downcast
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:7. In this passage, Paul tells us something important about God.
He says that God comforts the downcast. That isn't something that God did once. It's not something He does every once in awhile. It's who God is. He loves and cares about you so much, that when you're downcast, He comforts you. Just like a good, loving parent comforts their child when they're upset.
Have you been downcast for awhile? Felt like things haven't gone your way? Has it not been your day, your week, your month, or even your year? He'll be there for you. He's a friend closer than a brother. He's closer to you than your very breath. And He cares.
If you've been struggling, and feel lost and confused, ask Him to comfort you. And then notice the last half of the verse. God, who comforts the downcast, SENT TITUS. That's usually how God does it. Sometimes He'll comfort you directly, speak some truth into your heart and make you feel better. But usually, He sends you a person. He likes using our hands and feet and shoulders (to cry on) as His own. So after you've been comforted, be Titus to someone else. Comforting other people might also make you feel better!
God, thank You for being a God who comforts the downcast. And for letting us help.
