we own nothing
Paul gives us a great reminder today in our reading from the One Year Bible, in 2 Corinthians 6:1-13. He says, "We own nothing, but we have everything."
It's good for us to realize that this is true for all of us. None of us really OWNS anything. It's not like we'll take our money or our cars or houses or even our clothes with us when we die. We borrow these things for a short time (and the older we get, the shorter it seems... time flies faster and faster.) Then it's time to give them back. What will we do with them in the short time we have them?
Let's be good stewards of the things God has given us. Let's use the wealth He's trusted us with to help people. Let's ease the burdens of our friends and family. Let's feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those in prison and who are sick... let's make the world a better place with what He's given us.
We only have a short time to do so.
God, thanks for the opportunity to use Your gifts for good. Please give us wisdom to do so.
