saying yes to God

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 2 Corinthians 1:12-2:11. In this passage, we read Paul telling the Corinthians that he follows the example of Jesus in making his yes mean yes, and his no, no. He says that "Amen" means "Yes!" And that brings up an important point about prayer.

I've mentioned in previous blogs that a great deal of prayer is simply learning to agree with God. Since God has the ultimate perspective, and is ultimately right about everything, we learn to see reality the way it really is when we learn to agree with God's perspective. So much of prayer is learning what God is telling us and then saying "yes."

The more we open ourselves to saying "yes" to Him, the better our lives become. The more we are freed from our sins (the times when we say "no" to His working in our lives) and enabled to live the lives that He designed us for, full of joy and purpose and meaning.

What could be better than that?

God, please help us learn to say "yes" to You every time.
