the battle belongs to the Lord

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Acts 25:1-27. Some religious leaders are trying very hard to kill Paul. And it makes you wonder why. Besides the fact that he is accusing them of killing Jesus, there seems to be a supernatural reason for them to want him dead. And eventually they get what they want.

We face this supernatural attack too. When we try to help other people, especially when we help them grow in their faith, the enemy attacks. But thankfully, we have a whole army on our side, as well.

Today some friends of mine were talking about someone they know that works for the CIA. He told them that we have no idea all of the surveillance and intelligence that goes on around us every day. That so many attacks by groups like ISIS are thwarted constantly, and we never even know they were planned.

How much more so does this happen in the spiritual realm. Which is why it's so important for us to stay close to God. He protects us, but His protection doesn't cover us as well when we stray away. We have to stay close.

God, please keep us close to You, so you can protect us from our enemy.
