God hears you

Today we read from 1 Samuel 1:1-2:21 in the One Year Bible. We read the story of where Samuel comes from. It's quite a tale. And there's a joke right in the middle of it. Hannah, Samuel's mom, was upset about not having any children. And her husband said to her, "Isn't being with ME better than having ten children??" And then the story just goes on... she didn't really answer him. That's funny.

What's also funny is that God hears our cries even when we're being eaten by a beach, apparently, like in the picture above. I guess that's supposed to be quicksand? Anyway, it's a funny picture.

But what's not funny is that God really does hear us. It boggles the mind to realize that God, who is bigger than the whole universe and more powerful than the power of the biggest sun or darkest black hole, hears you when you pray. He hears our cries when we're upset, and He answers us.

He doesn't always answer us as quickly as we'd like. Hannah had to wait a few years before God gave her children. But He does hear us, and He answers our prayers.

Don't be afraid. God hears you. And He will answer your prayer.

God, thank You for hearing us, as big as You are, and as tiny as we are.
