who we represent

Today we hear about representing others in the OT reading from the One Year Bible, which you can listen to HERE. You can also listen to the NT reading HERE.

When Moses puts together the clothing that Aaron is to wear when he comes into the tabernacle to make offerings, he wears the names of the tribes of Israel over his heart. This is to remind him - and us - that he wasn't just going there for his own needs, but for the needs of everyone he knew. For all of his relatives and friends. For the whole nation of Israel.

When we come before God to make our offerings, of prayer and praise and maybe money, time, and energy, we should remember who WE represent as well. We need to keep our friends and family in mind, and bring their needs before Him. To intercede, as Aaron did for Israel, for those in our lives who are depending on us for our prayers.

How do you remember who to pray for? Maybe make a list in your phone? Write them down in your computer? Or make an actual paper list? Whatever you need to keep your friends and family in mind during your prayer time, it's definitely worth it. One of the spiritual acts of charity is to pray for the living and the dead. Let's, like Aaron, remember those who count on us for our offerings, when we come before our Lord.

God, thanks for teaching us even through clothes.
