our tabernacle
Moses is given very specific instructions today in our OT reading, which you can LISTEN HERE, and Jesus tells us about talents in the NT reading, which is HERE.
Today, we'll focus on the tabernacle. God is very precise, and very clear, on how he wants Moses to build this place where He plans to meet with His people. There is a holy place, and a Holy of Holies. There is an Ark of the Covenant, where God wants His commandments stored, and above which He planned to speak to Moses.
Does this bring anything to mind? God has constructed a tabernacle in your heart, as well. A place where He meets with you, to speak with you and give you instructions on how to live your life. It is a holy of holies, where no one else can go - only you and God. And He places His commandments there, as well. On the foundation of those commandments, above them, He speaks to you. Everything He says is based on and in agreement with those commandments.
God was very "jealous" when it came to protecting the holy place where He met with the children of Israel. In the same way, He jealously protects you and your heart, and wants to keep your life and your body holy so that He can meet with you there.
The bread of His presence is found in the Holy of Holies, in the tabernacle. And in the Eucharist, the bread of communion, He meets with us as well, bringing His love and holiness into our lives.
Let's strive to keep our tabernacles holy, so that He might visit us without interference.
God, thanks for teaching us about tabernacles.
