surprises in heaven
CLICK HERE for the OT reading for today, and CLICK HERE for the NT reading.
We hear from Jesus today, telling us what heaven will be like. He says that the first will be last, and the last first. That there are surprises when we come to the end of everything. And we know that's true.
He tells us that "eye has not seen, nor ear has heard, what God is preparing for those who love Him." We literally cannot imagine how great it will be. And one of the biggest surprises is who will be there. God's mercy is great, and His forgiveness is bigger than we can understand. Those who we suspect most for sins in this world might just show up in heaven, surprising almost everyone.
So let's work for that now, shall we? Let's pray for those who are far from Him. Let's love people, even if they support the political party that we don't like. Let's pray for our leaders, even if they're silly and make bad decisions. Let's share our faith and our love and kindness with our enemies, and maybe win them over to be our friends in the process.
Through love, let's be a little less surprised who we see in heaven.
God, thanks for Your great mercy, without which we would all be lost.
