today's readings: Number 14:1-15:16, Mark 14:53-72, Psalm 53:1-6, and Proverbs 11:4
the readings work together well today. in the OT, the children of Israel do dumb things and God fixes it. in Mark, Peter denies Jesus, just like He said he would. (this would be a very bad story if we didn't know that Jesus will ultimately restore him)... and in the Psalm, we see that the Psalmist calls anyone who doesn't believe in God a fool... which reminds us of Peter's denial and Israel's stupidity... but then there is redemption at the end when God restores His people, and they shout with joy.
this brings us comfort in our lives today. because, believe it or not, we're gonna do dumb things. we're gonna deny Him. we're even going to act like we don't believe in God, and be fools.
but He is patient and kind, and loves us back into being restored to Him.
thank you God, for your mercy that is new every morning.

The patience God gives us is way beyond anything that we can even understand, we as humans can not understand or ever be able to achieve without the mercy and teachings of Christ.
