Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 24:29-51. Jesus tells us that He will return when we're not expecting it. So we have to stay ready.
Amy Carmichael, the missionary, once said that a cup full of sweetness can't spill a bitter drop no matter how suddenly it's jostled. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time staying full of sweetness. The only way I can hope to be full of anything sweet is to stay close to Him. And that will keep me ready for His return, too, whenever that is.
God, please keep us close to You so that we're ready when You return, either in the sky or in our own personal lives and it's time for us to come home.
