This Must Be Important: One Year Bible Reading for March 15

Today in the One Year Bible, we read these verses:

Numbers 22:21-23:30
Luke 1:57-80
Psalm 58:1-11
Proverbs 11:12-13

And in Proverbs, we return to the theme of keeping silent. That's been a recurring theme over the last week or so in our readings. And, funny enough, right after I posted a blog talking about keeping silent, I got banned from Facebook. But I've been reinstated, so all is well.

But this is apparently an important subject because there are so many verses that talk about biting our tongue. The two verse we look at today say, "the one who had understanding holds their tongue" AND "the trustworthy person keeps a secret." So while it might be easier and more fun to clap back at someone who is rude to you, especially online, we should remind ourselves that wisdom is found in keeping quiet until the right moment comes to share wisdom in love. You never know who is listening, and who might have their lives changed due to what you say.

God, please teach us to keep silent when wisdom calls for it.
