Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:
Numbers 10:1-11:23
Mark 14:1-21
Psalm 51:1-19
Proverbs 10:31-32
Let's look at the Proverb. It's an interesting flip side of something we've already talked about in my blogs on Proverbs. We already talked about how it's wise to keep silent sometimes. But today we're going to look at righteous speech, which will continue forever, and wicked speech, whose days are numbered.
Verse 31 says, "From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be silenced." We're hearing alot of perverse tongues today, aren't we? Hollywood is replete with them. Politicians lie so often that it's impossible to understand what anyone in power really means. But one day they will be silenced, and the lies will cease.
But the righteous will continue speaking for eternity, and the fruit of wisdom will come from their lips. We can look forward to hearing only truth and beauty forever.
Lord Jesus, come quickly.
Thanks, God, for reminding us that lies are temporary and the truth is for always.
