Today we read from the One Year Bible in these verses:
Deuteronomy 16:1-17:20
Luke 9:7-27
Psalm 72:1-20
Proverbs 12:8-9
The world is crazy right now. We're still reeling from the global pandemic and trying to make sense of the vaccine proffered to us, as we're finding ourselves hurtling toward a possible third world war. It's hard to know what's actually happening or who to believe because the media seems to be spinning their narratives more than telling us facts. And very powerful people with lots of money are hiding facts and killing people to keep the evidence against them from coming to light. So what do we DO in the middle of all of this?
Well, we get the answer to this question in tonight's reading. In Luke, we hear Herod expressing chaos and confusion just like we're experiencing today. And he asks, "Who is this that I'm hearing about?"
We cut scenes to Jesus. And there's our answer. Draw close to Jesus is what we should do today. But you might ask, "But what can I do that's PRACTICAL??" Jesus gives you that answer in today's readings. "You feed them." The world is hungry. Hungry for actual food. Hungry for the truth. Hungry for love.
You feed them.
God, thanks for showing us the answer to all of our chaos and confusion.
