Today we read from the following passages in the One Year Bible:
Exodus 35:10-36:38
Matthew 27:32-66
Psalm 34:1-10
Proverbs 9:7-8
And we're talking about wisdom again. We probably will quite a few times, since Proverbs is all about wisdom. And today, we're going to learn TWO ways that we can become wise. Are you ready?
Number one: when we read this passage, it says that if you correct a mocker, they'll hate you. But if you correct the wise, they'll love you for it. Get the message? When someone corrects you (and they're right!), be glad that you've been corrected. Accept the correction and learn from it. If you hate the person who corrected you, you're not growing in wisdom.
Number two: just ask. The Bible very clearly says (James 1:5) that if ANYONE (that means YOU!) lacks wisdom, let him ask. And God will give him wisdom! I take full advantage of this verse, and I ask for wisdom for me and for those I care about every single day. And He answers that prayer. He makes you wise! You might not think I'm very wise. But think how dumb I'd be if He hadn't been working on me!
God, thanks for teaching us wisdom.
