Many are the Victims that Porn has Brought Down: One Year Bible reading for February 6

Today we read from the following verses in the One Year Bible:

Exodus 23:14-25:40
Matthew 24:29-51
Psalm 30:1-12
Proverbs 7:24-27

And the verse we will look at today could have been written today, even though it was actually written several thousand years ago. The Proverbs writer tells us to stay away from sexual temptation. Back then, he was warning men to avoid prostitutes and promiscuous women who tempt you to sleep with them while their husbands are away. Today, that temptation comes to us largely in the form of online pornography.

If you ask priests or pastors today, they'll tell you that the single biggest problem facing young people today in regard to sin is addiction to pornography. The free and easy access to the nastiest and most tempting sexual videos and pictures on the planet makes sexual purity very difficult, for some close to impossible. It ISN'T impossible, though, for anyone. And this site gives you lots of information about why it's bad for you and how you can fight the good fight for purity. Remember, God tells us to be holy, like He is holy, and porn is holding us back from being who He made us to be.

God, thanks for the words of wisdom from the Proverbs writer on how to avoid sexual temptation. Help us live pure lives.
