Blessed James Miller: Brother Fix-It

Today we celebrate another down-to-earth saint. His name is Blessed James Miller. He was sent as a missionary to central and south America at various times, and taught high school as well as starting soccer clubs. He ministered to the poor, which made the wealthy angry. One day some masked men shot him as he was working on a ladder, fixing things. They were never identified. You can read more about him here.

It's good to read about these simple, loving men one right after the other. It's a good reminder that God is calling us to do our simple work with love and kindness. To be patient and good to everyone we meet, even if they push our buttons and give us cause to be frustrated or angry. Remember, no one can MAKE you angry. They can give you cause to be angry - whether you lose your cool is up to you.

God, thanks for the example of this simple fix-it. Blessed James Miller, pray for us.
