He helped the poor and made sure that everyone got help even if they couldn't afford it. His gentle but firm faith led many people back to the church. He didn't perform any miracles and he wasn't martyred. He didn't begin any new religious orders. He was an ordinary person, like you and me. This is kind of reassuring, isn't it? For the last several months we've been reading about amazing, remarkable, superhero type saints. Today we have an ordinary man doing ordinary work, with the kind of love that Mother Teresa says we should do everything with. And because he did what you and I do, but did it with great love, he's now a saint in the church.
God, help us to do our ordinary things with extraordinary love. St Giuseppe Moscati, pray for us.
