Another marvelous saint is the focus of my blog today. Her name is St Gemma Galgani, and she was born in Tuscany. Her parents both died when she was a girl, and her prayer life is what sustained her as she grew up. She ardently desired to enter the local monastery, but her poor health prevented her. She lost her hearing and became paralyzed early in her life, but was healed through the intercession of a Passionist Priest, Gabriel Possenti.
She had many mystical visions in which she heard directly from God, and then after joining a third order of the Passionists, she received the stigmata! What a gift! Very few saints throughout history have received this precious identification with the suffering of Jesus.
Her health then deteriorated and she died at the young age of 25. But the suffering she experienced in this life is as nothing compared to the joy that she will experience, and is ALREADY experiencing, in heaven for all eternity.
God, thanks for teaching us that even though life might sometimes be disappointing, that you are the ultimate fulfillment of all of our dreams. St Gemma Galgani, pray for us.

Her ears were for God, and her ways for us to follow. To go through so much makes me feel awful being depressed as I've lost family and those left quarrel with each other. God takes these Saints early as they come to show us the way, and leave early because they had so much suffering, and deserve to be with Our Lord and their parents in heaven.
