Today we read from The One Year Bible in John 8:21-30. Jesus says that unless we believe that He is who He claims to be, we will die in our sins. That sounds pretty important. The people ask who He is. And knowing who He is turns out to be perhaps the most important thing for us to know in our lives.
Robert Barron talks about who Jesus is in this wonderful YouTube video. But the reason why it's so important for us to believe that He is who He says He is, is that we have to believe that in order to do what He tells us.
Because He tells us to do some crazy things. Be born again. Eat His flesh and drink His blood. Love our enemies. Give away everything and follow Him. Who could do all that?
Only someone who believed that Jesus was God.
