more than bread

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from John 6:22-42. Jesus tells us that the people are following Him just so He will give them food. But that He wants so much more for them than that.

He says the same exact thing to us too, did you know that? Here we are, going through our days focused on work and money and food...when He has so much more for us. He wants us to receive His life giving bread...His own self. Are you receiving Him? Are you spending time with Him daily? Are you abiding in Him, and making sure He abides in you?

That's the only way we will really accomplish anything worthwhile in our lives. We can't, when we're disconnected. But when we're connected to Him daily...we can do anything.

God, please show us how to step out of our every day lives of bread and work and money...and do the things You created us for.
