Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Luke 11:14-36. The crowds are asking Jesus for signs and wonders, and even when He performs them, they say He's doing it by the power of the devil.
Why is it so important for us to have faith? This is clearly what Jesus wanted the people of His human lifetime to do. To have faith in Him. But for many of them, it was more than they could do.
In order to do what someone tells you, you have to have faith in them. If you doubt that what they're telling you is true, you're not going to obey them.
Jesus is calling us to do things that defy our normal human logic. He calls us to love enemies and walk on water. The only way we can do those things is if we, like Peter, have the faith in Him necessary to step out of the boat.
God, please help us to have the faith we need to follow You, wherever you lead.
