we all play a part

Today Jesus talks about Judas in the One Year Bible reading from Luke 22:14-34. He says that He must be condemned to death, but that it will be miserable for the one who betrays Him.

And so it is in our lives, too. There are things that will happen with or without us. People will come to Jesus, and people will fall away. Some will follow Him closely and store up great treasures in heaven. Some will waste most of their lives and find themselves in a sad and lonely place. What part you play in the grande scheme is up to you.

What part will you play? You get to decide this every day. Will you be loving and kind and treat people with dignity and respect? Or will you be grouchy and unpleasant and demand that everyone do things your way? Will you give more today, or take more? Will you be Peter and repent of your sins, or Judas and despair of them?

What part will you play today?

God, please give us wisdom to choose a good part to play in our lives.
