Jesus says some alarming things today in the One Year Bible selection of John 6:43-71. He tells His followers that they unless they eat His flesh and drink His blood, they won't have eternal life. This caused many of them to shake their heads and walk away. But He says something else that baffled people, and still makes us think today.
He said that we can't come to Him unless God the Father gives us to Him. We can't just choose Him on our own. That's pretty strange, isn't it? Now, there's no reason for you to worry about that. Because if you ask the Father to give you to Him, He will. You won't want Him to unless He was already drawing you. But it's a good thing to keep in mind when dealing with other people, and treating them with love. Because they won't come to Jesus unless God gives them to Him. So when you are talking to people about Jesus, you might pray that God the Father give them to Him. Because unless He does, they won't come to Him.
God, thank You for giving us to Jesus. Please help us to follow Him with all of our strength.
