that God might be glorified

Today we read in the One Year Bible from John 9:1-41. Jesus heals the man born blind. But before He does, He teaches us something profound. His disciples ask Him, "Was he born blind because of his sin or the sins of his parents?" And Jesus replied that it was neither, but rather so that God might be glorified.

That answer teaches us something about our own lives. Sure, the troubles we face each day might be due to our own sins or bad decisions. Nevertheless, they present an opportunity for God to be glorified. When we realize this, it grows our faith. We realize that every challenge we face is another opportunity for God to be glorified.

When we bring our requests to Him with that goal in mind, it changes the way we pray. Rather than feeling like we're bothering Him, or asking for something we don't deserve, we see that we're looking for an opportunity to praise Him. To bring Him glory.

God, thank You for teaching us that every challenge we face is another opportunity to bring You glory.
