saying grace

St John Cassius talks to us today in A Year with the Church Fathers. He reminds us to be thankful for everything, even the things that we work hard for.

In the picture above, which says so much with no words, we see two people "saying grace". And as we know from so many sources that we've read over the last couple years together, words have power.  God "spoke" the universe into existence. Jesus spoke, and people were healed. Bread was turned into His body. Sins were forgiven. Words have power.

In the picture, we see the two with their heads bowed. Even though we can't hear their words, even though the two guys at the table watching in perplexity and perhaps awe maybe can't hear them either, their words are bringing grace into that room. The words they're saying are bringing grace into your room right now, as you're reading this, as you look at that picture. When we "say grace", we're giving thanks for what He has done for us, yes. But we're also "Speaking" grace into the lives of everyone who witnesses it. We're bringing the grace of God into that moment.

Let's remember to "say grace" in everything. And permeate our lives with Him.

God, thank You for teaching us to "say grace".
