who writes the songs?

Lewis brings up an important distinction today in A Year with C.S. Lewis. By the way, if you aren't already following along, but would like to, you can purchase this book as an e-book and read it on your tablet or phone. It's only $2.99 from bn.com

Lewis tells us about vocations today. He doesn't use the word. But he points out that some of us are called to be priests and preachers. Others are called to be writers. Still others are called to be politicians. Some of us are called to write the songs that help all of us to worship. All of us are called to be holy. We are all called to love. But the way we express that love is found in our vocation - the work that He has called us to.

Have you found yours yet? Maybe you have. Maybe you're doing the very thing that God wants you to do in life. If so, I pray you do it with all your heart, and don't grow weary in doing good.

Maybe you're still looking? Not sure if what you're doing is your calling or not? If that's the case, start asking Him to show you what He wants. Believe me, He wants you to know what He wants you to do. He'll show you, over time, and He'll help you find a way to do it. Of course He will. He wants you to do His will even more than you do.

And you'll never find more fulfillment than in doing the thing He is calling you to. Ultimately, of course, the thing we're called to do is to be with Him. But that relationship manifests itself in different ways in each of our lives.

God, thank You for Your calling. Please help us to follow it, every day.
