do we know?

Lewis gives us some good advice today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He says that we all see the kingdom of God through our difference lenses. We see things we like, and try to pick out the parts we don't like. (I'm paraphrasing)

But this leads us to a deeper truth. The Spice Girls tell us what they want, what they really really want. What do you really want? Well, the answer might surprise you.

The fact that the answer might surprise you is where we find wisdom. Wisdom comes in realizing that we might be wrong about what we ourselves really want after all. Wisdom is opening our hand. If you keep your hand clenched, you hold on to what you think you want. And in doing so, you miss out on what you really do want... which God has for you.

So open your hand. Receive, today, the gift He has for you.

It's what you really, really want.

Thanks, God, for even teaching us through the unlikely sources.
