the present

Lewis tells us about humbly accepting the good today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He's talking about sermons. But this really applies to life in general, doesn't it? Jesus said the same thing that the ancient wisdom of the quote in the pic above talks about. "Don't worry about tomorrow... sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof".

And I've noticed that most of the time, there isn't much trouble right here in the present moment. I borrow far too much trouble from tomorrow, and far too much regret from yesterday. If I live in the now, I always have the grace I need to face the challenges that I really face.

God, please help me live in the now.

Words and sounds can trigger a regret or bring to mind a challenge from the future. Our focus needs to be on what God has in store for us right now. It is amazing what He shows us every single day as long as we are not living in the past or worrying about the future.
