so anthropomorphic...

Lewis points out something pretty amazing today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He tells us that it's presumptuous for us to assume that we humans will be brought to heaven, but not the rest of creation. In beautiful words upon which I cannot begin to improve, he tells us that we bow to the rest of creation, as it has also bowed to us. To assume that only humans will be gathered into His Kingdom is egregiously egotistical.

And yet.

I'm afraid I do this every day, in my own mind. How often do I include the glories of His creation in my prayers? The Psalms certainly do...but my prayers are pretty much entirely about humans, most of all myself.

God, teach me this truth, brought to us by your good servant Lewis, and help me to include the wonders of your creation in my contemplation of your kingdom.

Thank you for this insight Jeff, I don't where that is in the bible, but I've wondered about that most of my life, especially dogs and even wooly worms. I do know that we are lifted up higher than the angels, so if angels serve us, then we should serve the rest of creation.
