trapped

Lewis uses the phrase "a pretty cageful" today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

And it brings up an important concept. Being trapped. In the New Testament, Paul talks about the sins that so easily entangle us. And we all know how insidiously pornography can enslave people. We also know, sadly, how drugs can wrap their chains around the wrists and ankles of addicts. Even alcohol, when used in excess, can become a shackle.

But there are less obvious traps in our lives. Maybe the most prevalent one is fear. How many lives would be free and full of awesome adventure if the paralysis of fear were removed? How different would your life be if you were able to fearlessly follow His leading in every area of your life?

I know mine would be alot better than it is.

There is no fear in love, because perfect love casts out fear. Let's pray that God fills us with His perfect love, casting out all of our fears, throwing off all the shackles of porn, drugs, alcohol, and whatever else is keeping us back from running that glorious race He has placed before us.

And... let's pray for our poor brothers and sisters, caught in the cages of their own making (or not of their own making in some sad cases)... that God will open their doors and break their shackles, freeing them to live in love and light.

God, fill us with love. Fill us with You.
