habits: heaven or hell?

Today Lewis tells us about the long haul in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He talks about how the enemy can wear us down over time, using the good things in our lives against us by making us feel more at home.

What he doesn't mention are habits. Are habits good or bad? Well, you normally hear alot about bad habits. But good habits are very very good for you.

The habit of praying every day. The habit of reading the Bible. The habit of helping other people. The habit of asking God for wisdom. The habit of saying you're sorry when you screw up. These habits make us into the people we wanna be. And if we form these habits, they become a great line of defense against the enemy in the war of attrition Lewis tells us about.

God, help us form the habits of You.

Habit of being Christlike is what helps us war the enemy. When we do pray, read God's word and surround ourselves with Godly wisdom. It helps put on the full armor of God which warred off the enemy. The Helmet of Salvation. Breastplate of righteousness. Belt of truth. Shoes of peace. Sword which is the Word of God. Get in the habit of put that on everyday and that helps defeat the enemy. Just because we wear doesn't mean there will be no battle, but just like a soldier wears his armor to protect, Christian need to also put theirs on daily. Because their a spiritual battle between heaven and hell for our soul and we believers need to be ready for battle always.
