cooperating with the natural law

Lewis tells us more about the natural law that is all around us in today's selection from A Year with C.S. Lewis.

And it brings up an interesting point. Lewis goes to some length to convince us that the natural law really is at work in the world. But once we accept that, what are we to do with it?

Well, if we want our lives to be meaningful, and to accomplish things... then we should work in cooperation with the laws around us, right? As long as we're working at odds to those laws, or against them, we will not be as efficacious. But if we work alongside those laws, we will see the fruits of our labors multiplied.

So that teaches us about sin. When we sin, we are disobeying those laws. We're working against them. And our lives will only accomplish so much (or nothing). When we learn to let go of those sins that so easily entangle us (and, by His grace, we can), we find that our lives become so much more productive and we can get so much more done.

If you would like this to happen in your life, ask Him to make it so. He wants it more than you do.

Thanks, God, for Your natural law. Please help us cooperate with it.

And help us to stay away from "politically correct" mindset that is in conflict with Your laws.
