when?

today's readings: 2 Kings 8:1-9:13, Acts 16:16-40, Psalm 143:1-12, Proverbs 17:26

a girl possessed by a demon that helped her see the future was following Paul and Silas around. she was saying something very true - that they were servants of the Most High God and had come to tell people how to be saved. but i get the feeling she was probably saying it in such a way that made it seem silly or sarcastic. and after she'd done it for several days, Paul rebuked the spirit and it came out of her.

it does make you wonder why he put up with it for several days. it reminds me of when Moses told Pharaoh that all he had to do was ask Moses, and Moses would pray and the plague of frogs would go away immediately. he asks Pharaoh "when should i ask?" and Pharaoh says... get this... he says, "tomorrow." why the heck didn't he say "right now!"??

but we put up with things in our lives, too, don't we? we live with sins... or bad habits... that we know we should get rid of. and we always mean to... tomorrow.

please help me, God, to rid myself of the things that keep me from You. today.

It does make me wonder. Reminds me that it's all in His timing, not mine.
