poor Tamar... her half brother treats her like trash... and then is killed for it. it's one of those stories from the Bible that you KNOW no one made up... because it doesn't make anyone look too good, not even the heroes of the story.
in the NT reading, Jesus prays for you. yes, YOU! He prays, of all things, that you will be one with all other believers. so, to me that seems to mean that it's pretty important to Him that we get along. don't you think?
that's something we should probably pray regularly, and work towards. Jesus wants us to be one. so let's pray that His will be done on earth, and that we who call ourselves Christians will stop fighting and be one, as He and the Father are one.
God, please help me to be a peacemaker, and to help your children to be one, as you desire.
