what political party was Jesus?

today's readings: Joshua 16:1-18:28, Luke 19:1-27, Psalm 87:1-7, Proverbs 13:11

many people think of Jesus as a liberal. but most liberals, i think, would be uncomfortable with what He says in today's readings. (it's ok... most conservatives would be uncomfortable with many things He said, too. He wasn't a Republican OR a Democrat).

Jesus says to take the money from someone with just a little and give it to someone with a great deal! even in the parable, people complained about this. but this is the way life is, isn't it?

we see this with all of our talents. if you use your muscles, you get more. if you use your singing ability, it gets better. if you use your brain, you become smarter. if you invest your money wisely, you get more money.

God takes care of us, and the poor will always be our responsibility to take care of. but God created the world, and in the world if you use what you're given well, you get more.

what gifts do you have that He wants you to stop hiding and put to good use?

God, please teach me to use the gifts you've given me ... and use them well.

Being a good steward of God given gifts praises God mightily. I am very proud of both our sons and know both have many talents. One is a Father to many, the other I believe has also gifts to be a wonderful father. I'm getting old. I want to see this gift flourish before I go.

I was going to remain quiet on this subject but it woke me up about 1:30, or was it the dog? Anyways, what Christ was saying in my humble opinion was, if we use what He has given to us He will multiply it according to our trust and obedience to what He has called us to do. He gave the talents to three different individuals and each chose to do differently with them. Confidence comes into play here also. Confidence in self to do the right thing with the talents/money, and desire to please God by multiplying what we are given. The third individual let his fear of God not understanding the responsibility of the gift to use it, he just hid it. How many of us fit into this category? If we use our talents/money to bring praise to us, then we have our reward and God will see the self righteous trait in us and the multiplication will be diminished. Do it in secret without expecting any reward/praise from others or from God.
