today's readings: Judges 6:1-40, Luke 22:54-23:12, Psalms 95:1-96:13, Proverbs 14:5-6
the rooster crows the second time, and Jesus turns and looks at Peter. in that moment, Peter experienced the horrifying humiliation of knowing he had denied His Lord just as He'd said. he went away and wept bitterly.
but the story doesn't end there. it could have, you know. Peter could have gone away and taken Judas's way out. he could have ended his life, or he could have gone away into obscurity, never to be heard from again, too ashamed to return to face Jesus or the other disciples.
but Peter owned up to it. after the resurrection, Peter and the disciples are out doing what they knew to do... fishing. and they see Jesus on the beach. and what does Peter do? cower in the boat? jump in the water and swim away?
no. he jumps in the water and swims to Jesus. he faces and answers Jesus's questions... "do you love Me?" and is reinstated as His disciple, as His beloved one.
you know that Jesus turns and looks at us, right? that we've all let Him down at one point or another. we've all sinned and we've all turned away when we should have stood up for Him. and He's looking at us right now. how do we respond?
let's learn our lesson from Peter. let's jump in the water and swim to Jesus.

Wow Jeff!!!!! Excellent! Let's all get the water and swim to Jesus in everything we say and do. Would that turn things around? Yes indeed, in the OT readings we see over and over Gods people going away from Him.....not once not twice but over and over.....what does He do when they cry out.....He loves them and helps them. Let us all cry out for the Lord to intervene in our lives and our world.....He's waiting!!!!!!
