a cure for worry

today's readings: Deut 33:1-29, Luke 13:1-21, Psalm 78:65-72, Proverbs 12:25

the Proverb for today is what jumped out at me. worry weighs us down. and apparently it's BEEN weighing us down for thousands of years... the Proverbs were written before Christ, maybe a couple thousand years before Christ. that's a long time for people to worry.

but notice the second half of the verse. a "kind word" or "encouraging word" or "good word" depending on the translation you read, cheers us up and makes us glad.

how easy is it to give someone a cheerful word? it's easier today than ever before, believe it or not. see, in years past, you had to actually SEE that person, interact with them, and say words to them.

today, all you have to do is share something on facebook. if someone posts something, it's so easy to click the 'like' button. it's easy to share a happy picture or kind thought. it's easy to write "i'm thinking about you" or "you're in my prayers" on their posts. you can live in different countries, but still lift up each other's hearts instantly... just by clicking a button.

God, please help me be generous with my kind words.

Amen, be anxious for nothing, with prayer and supplications let your prayer be known unto God.
