what must I do to be saved?

today's readings: Leviticus 24:1-25:46, Mark 10:13-31, Psalm 44:9-26, Proverbs 10:20-21

so Jesus says some things today that might make you wonder. a very earnest young man comes to Him and asks how to be saved. does He say "believe in Me"? no. does He say "Pray the Roman Road and ask Me into your heart"? no.

what does He say? "Obey the ten commandments [and He lists some of them] and then... sell all of your possessions and come follow Me."

wow! pretty extreme. it's hard for the rich to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. and my pretty much any standards, we (you and I) are pretty rich. should we be worried?

well, as Jesus says "all things are possible with God." but I think we should take His words to heart here. how can I lay my treasures at His feet? how can I use the blessings He's given me to bring about His Kingdom on Earth?

this is a daily question, with daily answers.

God, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in my life as it is in Heaven.

The message I got from this reading was right on with what you had to say. One note is that Jesus knew his heart and true love. The young man's true love was his possessions and wealth. Jesus clearly says we can't have two masters thus the young man was following the law but his god was everything he possessed.
God help me to give all that I have to You in my actions and my life. Help me to be willing to do just what Jesus said to this young man.
