listening?

today's readings: Exodus 4:1- 5:21, Matt 18:1-20, Psalm 22:19-31, Prov 5:15-21

so we have a recurring theme from the OT reading and the Psalms... that of God hearing us.

God sent Moses to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt (which reminds me of the quote from Veggie Tales when they talk about the children of Israel and one of the French Peas says "awwww. I LOVE children!") because He heard them crying out to Him.

now, mind you, when He started to work in the situation to make things MUCH BETTER, things got worse at first. Pharaoh didn't like God messing with his program, and he made things harder on the Hebrews. but the important thing to realize is that God heard them.

God hears us, too. it doesn't seem like it sometimes. He doesn't always respond immediately. like Aslan says in the Narnian books, "all times are soon". when God says He's going to help us soon, that could take awhile.

but He does hear us. He does care. He answers us when we pray. He is listening.

the least we can do is listen to Him in return.

My fav part was Moses as in other Bible teachings we find humans bickering with God. Kinda like children with their parents. We try as children/adults to stretch the boundaries. God shows tremendous love and patience with Moses. Moses believes in God but wants to put limits on what God asks of him. Hummmmm don't think we have changed at all. God give a more trusting demeanor and just do what you tell me. Arguing with Him or trying to stretch the boundaries needs to be put away. God will not ask us to do anything that He will not provide the means and ability to accomplish.

I agree with your Mother,
God doesn't give to us more than we can handle, He provides the ability and the means.
Glory be to God
