family - and other battlegrounds

today's readings are from Genesis 42:18 - 43:34, Matthew 13:47 - 14:12, Psalm 18:16-36, and Proverbs 4:7-10

so today there was a very strong theme in the two readings!  in the OT, we see family trouble... Joseph's brothers are reaping what they sowed when they sold Joseph into slavery... and Jacob is frustrated with his sons for their behavior.

in the NT, Jesus is not able to do many miracles because He's in His hometown, and they don't have faith in Him.

they say that familiarity breeds contempt... and unfortunately that's very often true. the more time we spend with someone, the more difficult it can be to love them. every little thing they do can get under our skin and annoy us until we just have to get away from them!

but God is greater than that truth... He gives us love. and sometimes it takes a divine infusion of love for us to get along with one another.

so next time it's hard for you to love your family... remember, you're not alone! you're in good company... just ask God to help. He's good at helping us love one another.

sometimes it takes alot of bravery and strength to love your family. But He'll help you.

What are you implying here mister? These two readings point to the difference between man and God, He loves us inspite of our annoyingness, is that a word? It may not be a word but we all know what it means. I'm just so glad that I don't have glitches in me that cause annoyances.
