newest tales from a bookstore

so i had a customer this past week who, i believe, set a new record for most mutilated pronunciation of a title of a book.

a teenage girl approached me at information and asked "do you have the book called "monkey murd?"

"what's it called again?" i asked.

"um... monkey murd? or it MIGHT be 'the house of monkey murd'..."

"...... how do you spell monkey murd?"

"m-o-k-i-n-g...murd!"

*light bulb* "is this the book you mean?" i hold up a copy of "to kill a mockingbird"

"that's it!"
