Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 18:21-19:12. Jesus tells the religious leaders that marriage is a sacred thing, joined together by God, and should not be broken apart. Then He says that if God helps you, it's a high and holy calling to remain single for the kingdom of God.
So we see that both are good things. God created marriage and commissioned us to be fruitful and multiply. But He (and Paul in today's mass readings) also says that it's a very good thing (even better, according to Paul) to remain single in order to do the work of the kingdom of God.
Which are you called to? You might consider attending a retreat and ask Him which one He wants you to do. Unless you're already married, of course. Then you're called to marriage.
God, thank You for creating two good ways to live: married and single. Help us decide which is best for us.
