blessings and curses

We read these verses today in the One Year Bible:

1 Kings 20:1-21:29
Acts 12:24-13:15
Psalm 137:1-9
Proverbs 17:16

In Acts, we see Peter confronting a magician. The magician's name is Bar-Jesus, which means son of Jesus. Peter gets tired of the magician's antics and he calls him out, saying he's serving the devil. Then he curses the man with blindness!

That's an aspect of the New Testament that we don't usually focus on. But even Jesus Himself cursed a fig tree and it withered. 

Today we try to focus more on blessings and not curses. We even think of cursing as being an evil thing. But keep in mind that miracles are not always of the healing kind.

God, thanks for teaching us about curses. Help us to be blessings to those in our lives.
