just believe in Jesus

 Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

1 Samuel 8:1-9:27
John 6:22-42
Psalm 106:32-48
Proverbs 14:34-35 

In John, Jesus is asking His followers to believe in Him. He says that's what is necessary for them to be saved. This seems like a simple request, but it was too much for many of them. "Isn't this Mary and Joseph's son? How can He say He 'came down from heaven'?"

Seems strange, but it's true today, too. So many people today find it hard or impossible to believe in Jesus. Even with eternity in the balance, they find reasons why they can't believe in Him.

Of course, once we believe in Him, we do what He says. And much of what He says is that we should take care of the poor. So be sure you're doing that. I say this to myself as much as to you who are reading this.

God, please help those who find it hard to believe in Jesus to be able to do it, so we can see them in heaven.
