get closer to Jesus

 Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Deuteronomy 2:1-3:29
Luke 6:12-38
Psalm 67:1-7
Proverbs 11:27 

Let's look at Luke. People are following Jesus around, and some are there to hear what He's teaching, while others are trying to either just TOUCH Him so they'll be healed, or to get Him to heal them on purpose. 

But there's a big lesson we can get from just that. When you get close to Jesus, He heals you. The closer you get, the more His power flows out of Him and into you. He heals you of things you're not even aware that need healing. Relationships, bad ways of thinking, bad habits - the closer you get to Jesus, the more you're gonna find yourself healthy and clicking on all cylinders.

Does that mean He's going to heal your body and make it perfect? The answer might surprise you. It's YES! But that does NOT necessarily mean He's going to do that in this lifetime. Maybe He will. He does that sometimes. But even the people He healed during His public ministry eventually got old and died. Even the people He raised from the dead eventually died again.

But one day He's going to heal you completely - and you'll live in a glorified body that will live forever. We all have that to look forward to - as long as you know Jesus. Do you know Him? If not, ask Him to make Himself known to you. He'll do it.

God, thanks for all the healing You give us - now and eventually.
