be childlike!: One Year Bible Reading for August 22

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Job 4:1-7:21
1 Corinthians 14:18-40
Psalm 37:30-40
Proverbs 21:27

Let's look at 1 Corinthians. This gives us really good advice! Paul says to stop being childish! To be like infants in regards to sin (in other words, be holy and innocent) but think like adults.

He's basically saying that we should be child LIKE, but not childish. And the list above gives us some good examples of the difference. Look through those lists.

The TikTok video I just got through watching before writing this is of one of my friends' little girls. She's standing in a room going "mwaaaa...MWaaaa...MMMWAAAAA" because she's amazed at the sounds that she's making. It's a delightful moment of child wonder. And we should capture that childlike wonder and keep living in it throughout our adult lives. BUT. Let's leave behind the things on the right list and live as adults with childlike wonder.

That's what Paul advises.

God, thanks for giving us childlike wonder and adult thinking.
