Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:
2 Kings 3:1-4:17
Acts 14:8-28
Psalm 140:1-13
Proverbs 17:22
Let's look at the Psalm. The Psalmist is asking God to protect him from evil people who are trying to kill him. And that's something that we can all relate to today - asking God to protect us from those who hate us. We might not (at the moment) actually have anyone trying to kill us. But if you DO ANYTHING in this world, someone is going to hate you for it. And as the cat in the picture above tells us, haters are going to hate and we have to just keep doing our thing anyway.
But we also call out to God to protect us from evil people who try to do us harm. And in the meantime, let's try to put less hate out into the world. Yes, there are people in BOTH political parties who are doing bad things. But hating them and encouraging other people to hate them won't help. Let's love our enemies (while still opposing the designs of evil people) and pray for them. Let's put more love into the world, and less hate.
God, thanks for teaching us that haters are gonna hate - but that You teach us to love.
