Today in the One Year Bible, we read from the following passages:
Exodus 13:17-15:18
Matthew 21:23-46
Psalm 26:1-12
Proverbs 6:16-19
And in Psalm 26 we find the reason that people of faith are not being swayed by the winds of popular culture today. I don't mean to oversimplify anything. But people who believe in God, especially those who believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of Christianity, believe that God will be and will do what this verse says. "The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?"
Does this mean that everything will be happy and easy for our entire lives? Of course not. Bad things will happen. Persecution. The holocaust. People are literally being killed because they're Christians today. But we won't be afraid of them. We won't be terrified of climate change, or of a mutating virus. Because even though bad things have happened, are happening, and will happen, we don't put our faith or trust in the world around us. We trust God. So when the liars lie, and try to scare us, we won't be shaken. The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom should I be afraid?
God, thanks for reminding us that even if things are scary, we can trust in You.
